Balayage.

Hey Beauties,

I must admit I don’t go to the hair salon that much at all maybe once or twice a year. I’m always a DIY girl. But there is something about someone else doing your hair that feels great. No need to get mess everywhere. No need to stress if you miss any spots and also it’s a nice way to treat yourself.

Whenever I need to go to the Hairdressers I always go to Zumay in my local area. Zumay is amazing every time I go there I get great service the girls are friendly and I always ALWAYS walk out with what I wanted. Everyone hates it when you walk out with something completely different. But with Zumay they are just perfect. Zumay never let me down.

In 2011 Zumay won 3 big awards including
-Lorna Evans Victorian Hairdresser of the year
Australian Hair Fashion Awards 2011

- Lorna Evans Australian Salon Manager of the year
Australian Hair Fashion Awards 2011

- Hair Expo Excellence in salon Marketing 2011

This year I wanted something new as red was getting a bit old for me. I saw a picture of Khole Kardashian and fell in love with the Balayage.

As I have plenty of build up from the red I do need to go back in 5 weeks times and re do the colour.

I’m extremely happy with the results.

Photo taken from Iphone.

A huge thank you to Kim for doing such an amazing job.
This time I only got a trim as I'm trying to grow my fringe out. At the moment its at the annoying stage lol.

Head over to Zumays Facebook to receive $20 off you’r nect cut and colour. Also please let them know on their wall that Melissa sent you.

Disclaimer: They service was 100% paid for by my own money. I how ever received $20 due to a Birthday gift card

Whats getting me excited for February 2012

Hey Beauties,

February is almost around the corner and I'm getting pretty excited because there is 2 launches that I’m extremely excited about.

MAC SHOP MAC, COOK MAC Spring Collection 2012.

Not sure who came up with the name but this collection has very bright colours and has a retro feel to them :) With MAC and me some collections I don't even care about but some I do. This one is right up my ally.

Release Dates:

February the 9th in USA and March for International.

I have put this in my February because I will be getting this collection from the USA :)

Chanel Spring collection 2012.

In the past few months since owning a few Chanel items I have become obsessed. But as you know Chanel is expensive and I can’t go out and buy the whole collection. So with this collection I’m going to buy one item I want and need at that is The Glowing Blush Harmony.

Release Dates:

This collection is already out in the US as you can buy online now. I have called Chanel Chadston and they said Mid February.

I also can't forget Valentines day :)

What are you excited for?

Product Review: Fibrella Wipes.

Hey Beauties,
I share my clarasoinc with my partner john. Well he has stolen it lol. I need a new brush head but I have lost a 2 pack while over in AmericaL.  But I have found the next best thing. Back in Beauty school we used Fibrella wipes for Facials and Advance Facials. It may be laziness as john uses it in the shower and I wash my face next to the bathroom sink. But Also I do miss my Fibrella wipes as I had been using them for about 3 years.
What are Fibrella wipes?

Fibrella wipes are used for removing your makeup and cleanser. These are much softer than your normal facial towel. Facial towels can be rough of the skin. But with Fibrella wipes they are softer then a baby’s bum.
Pros:
  • Gentel on the skin.
  • Removes any makeup and dir.t (with using a cleanser)
  • Hygienic.
  • Very cheap.
  • Easy to use.
Cons:
  • Does not give a good deep clean like the Clarasoinc.
How to use:

You would use a Fibrella wipe as you would with any other towel or wipe.
Once you have cleansed the face. Wet the Fibrella and squeeze out any excess water.
Then remove your cleanser with one side of the Fibella.
Then cleanse for the second time and use the opposite side of the Fibrella.
After you have cleansed then you can go ahead and throw it out.

Wet Fibrella Wipe.

EWWW all my makeup removed with cleanser and a wipe.
Cost:

Its around $23 for 75 wipes . But with true Fibrella wipes you can tear them in half and use one half in the moring and the other at night. That will give you 75 days of use.

With Just your normal no name Fibrella wipes. it will cost $12.50 for 75 wipes.

Where to buy:

get mine form ebay. Or you can try a beauty supplys shop.

    OPI Nicki Minaj Collection.

    Hey Beauties,

The wait is finally over :). Like you I have been waiting for months for this collection to come out. I think this collection is one of the most antispated collections so far. Why? Well here is a few of my reasons.

    1. OPI comes out with amazing collections.

    2. Nicki Minaj is awesome I must say.

    3. The colours from this collection are beautiful.

So without further ode I give to you The Nicki Minaj Collection .

    Pink Friday:
A baby pink :) (right up my ally)

    Pink Friday.

    Do It On Em':
Very light green reminds me of the Shrek polish. (My least fav)

    Do It On Em'

    Fly:
A very dark turquoise. One of favourites from this collection as I have nothing like this colour.

    Fly.

    Super Base Shatter:
    A purple/Maroon colour with shimmer.

    Super Base Shatter.

    Save Me:
Glitter polish with the main colour silver it also includes holographic glitter. With this polish I only had to apply 2 coats. With most glitters I need at least 3 coats to get the results I want. Out of my whole nail polish collection this is the first kind of glitter I own and I love it.

    Save Me

    Metallic 4 Life:
This polish is a black base with flecks of silver glitter. This may sound corny but it reminds me of the galaxy.
    Metallic 4 Life.

    Where to buy:

This collection has not come out in Australia yet. I'm thinking Feb. The collection come out in America this month but there was no set date at all and some stores where getting it on the 1st of January. But when it does come out you will be abel to buy it from David Jones, Petra hair care and any salons that sell OPI.
Cost will be $19.95 for 15ml.

What Colour are you dying for?

Hair Tutorial: VS Sassoon Envy Wave.

    Hey Beauties,
Today I filmed a Hair tutorial on my new favourite hair styler the new Vs Sassoon Envy Wave.

This year I hope to do many videos for both my Blog and Youtube.
Sorry if the quality is not 100% I’m still trying to learn how to use my Camera :)

I am in love with this. Even though I do have curly hair this gives it a whole different texture and style. I'm obsessed with this.

If you own any VS styling products please let me know your thoughts on them.

Straight from the USA to AUS.

    Hey Beauties,
This may sound bad but I never buy Cosmetics/Beauty here in Australia unless I have a gift card or if cost price works out to be the same price or just a few dollars more then the USA. Why? You may ask it’s because we (Australian’s) do get ripped off so much. I know there are many reason why we pay heaps. I't does come down to many factors. I know I feel bad because I’m not putting money into our economy. But why pay $60 for one lipstick when I can get it for almost half the price in the USA.

Some companies like Sephora , Macy’s and Bloomingdales have caught onto International buyers and now you can no longer use a International Card for your purchases .
    How do I buy?

Well I use a mail forwarding system. Where I pay a company for the items I would like and they ship them straight to me.

I have used a few companies but I found Parcel It On to be the best. Quick responses via email, Fast shipping and does not charge the earth.

    How does it works?
    • I email Parcel it on with the website and all the items I wish to buy.
    • They then send me a invoice with all the items and cost including gst
    • I then send the money through PayPal. All the information on who to send the money to is all on the invoice.
    • Once they receive the money they then purchase the items for me
    • Once the items arrive to the US address they then send me a email asking what kind of shipping I would like and how much it will cost per shipping method for example Express, Regular, Insurance and so on.
    •  I them email the back letting them know what shipping method I would like. Then I’ll receive a invoice with the cost of shipping also the service fee of $15.00.
    • After they receive the money they then send off you items.
    • Now it’s time to stalk the post Man.
Note: Most US sites have free shipping on orders over $50. So no need to worrry about the shipping cost from the website to the US address.

A few Examples on how much I have saved.
    • Tiffany Necklace Here is AU $300 I paid $180US
    • Clarsonic Mia Here in AU around $250 (Back when it was expensive) I paid $190US
    • MAC  cosmetics  Holiday collection Here I was looking at $400 plus I paid $250US
    Tips:
    • Always do your research and check to see if you will save money and if its worth it. Someimes (once in a blue moon) you may not saves much at all.
    • Always do a search for online coupons this can include 15%off-75%off also can include free deluxe samples.
    • Remember to add the discount codes to your first email.
    Websites that ship to Australia:

Benefit Cosmetics ships to Australia and charges a small fee or you get Free shipping on all orders over $110.00 US. Benefit Cosmetics.

Kiss and Makeup NY have many  high end brands at US prices. Brands include NARS, Laura Mercia, Clarasoinc, Butter London and Smash box. Kiss and Makeup NY

Sigma Ships to Australia and sometimes they have special on Free International Shipping. Sigma

Illamasqua do ship to Australia for around $8.50. But remember it is in GBP. Illamasqua

Forever21 and Victorias Secrect both ship here yay! but shipping can get pricey. Forever21 Victorias Secret

I hope this post has helped.
If you have any questions please ask :)

Urban Decay: Naked Palette VS Naked Palette 2

    Hey Beauties,

Urban Decay has created one if not the most amazing Eye Shadow palette out there on the market. Everyone loves a neutral colour I know I do. So Urban Decay came out with The Naked palette that included 12 shades that can go from day to night. But Urban Decay had trouble meeting the demands and they were flying off the shelfs. Supply was down as they had trouble producing the double ended eye pencil. Urban Decay has now fixed this as they have created the double ended Brush that includes a blending and a shadow brush.
What’s even more Exciting is they have now Created (as you all know by now) a Second palette. I love these palettes. As I’m a very neutral girl 9/10 times ill reach for these palettes. They are extremely pigmented and easy to blend. Also there is a whole range of looks you can do with just the one palette. Your choice is endless.
I’ll be going through my thoughts on both palettes. Also loads of photos.

    Urban Decay Naked Palette 1:

    Urban Decay Naked Palette 1.

This Palette includes 12 Eye Shadows, a double ended brush and a small sample of their Primer potion.

Note: I do have the first Edition so mine does include the Eye Pencil
    Packaging:
The packaging is made up of heavy duty cardboard after a while it does becomes flimsy that’s from always opening and closing. It’s also made up of felt like martial. That I hate as it’s easy to get dirty and hard to clean. I have also notice that the gold Naked logo is wearing off.

    Urban Decay Naked Palette 1.

    Eye shadows:

In this palette the Shadows include.
Virgin: Perfect for a highlight colour.
    Sin: Champagne colour.
    Naked: Perfect matte nude colour.
    Sidecar: Light Brown with Shimmer.
    Buck: Medium Matte colour.
    Half Baked: Gold with shimmer.
    Smog: Medium Brown with shimmer.
Dark Horse: Very dark Brown with shimmer
    Toasted: Copper colour with shimmer.
    Hustle: Chocolate colour with shimmer.
    Creep: Black with shimmer.
Gunmetal: Dark blue with undertones of silver.

    From Left to Right.
Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Halfbaked, Smog, Darkhourse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal.

    My thoughts:
The Eye Shadow I like the least would be Creep as I don’t like black Shadows with any shimmer or glitter. This palette would be perfect for everyone. Also a great item for anyone who has just started getting into makeup.

    Urban Decay Naked Palette 2.

    Urban Decay Naked Palette 2.

This palette also contains 12 Eye shadows, Good karma Shadow Brush and A 3.23ml Lip Junkie in Naked.

    Packaging:

Unlike the first one this palette is make of Heavy Duty Tin J Very easy to clean and looks much nicer the original palette. Out of the 2 I like the second one much better. I don’t want to try just in case I do break a Shadow but I think if you dropped it by mistake I don’t think a shadow would even break. As for the first palette I think you would. But the only down side is that because the tin is so heavy sometimes it tips over if you don’t have anything at the back to support it.

                                                                                    Urban Decay Naked Palette 2.

    Eye Shadow:
In the Palette the Shadows Include.

    Foxy: Matte French Vanilla.
Half Baked: Gold with shimmer (This Shadow also is in the original Palette.)
    Bootycall: Off White
Chopper: The name explains it all. A copper colour
Tease: Light Plum wiht a matte finish.
    Snakebite:Metallic Brown.
Suspect: Deep champagne colour with shimmer.
    Pistol: Medium Silver with shimmer.
    Verve: Light Silver with shimmer.
YDK:  Remind me of Sidecar but a deeper colour.
    Busted: Deep brown.
    Blackout: Matte Black.

    From left to right.
Foxy, Halfbaked, Bootycall, Chopper,  Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted and Blackout

    My Thoughts:

    I also Love this palette.
The Palettes both have completely different colours. I was hoping they were not the same as the first but the colours are a whole lot different. With this palette you seem to have more cool tone colours as with the Original naked palette they have more deeper colours .
    Round Up:

I think a lot of people are a little skeptical as to whether they are both the same. But having them side by side you can truly tell they are both different in their own ways.  Now if you are looking into buying one and not sure what to get in my opinion have a look at both palettes and see what colours you like the best. Or if you are like me get both. Also if you are a MUA its so much easier to keep all your neutral colours together :)

Both NAKED 1 and NAKED 2.

    Where to buy:

    The Naked Palette:
I got mine from BeautyBay for $55.00. At the momet it looks like they are sold out :(

    The Naked Palette 2:
I got mine from the US Urban Decay site and used a mail forwarding system.
You can always try ebay. But please make sure its 100% Authentic.

What Palette do you like the best?

    What's hidden under my Foundation!!

    Hey Beauties,

I have been very naughty. How you ask? Well I have been very bad with maintaining my skin care system. I give advice on what to use and how but yet I don’t take my own advice. I used to get home really late form night shifts and the first and last thing I wanted to do was sleep. My skin has suffered from this.
Foundation has been my god. Many people do say  I have nice skin. But Under my foundation lies some very nasty surprises including Black head, white heads, uneven pigmentation and dryness. When you see the picture it may look not that bad at all. But I used to have the clearest skin and just had trouble with sensitivity.

I have spilt my skin care into 2 parts as you will see why.

    AM:
    • Kiehl’s Cleansing Milk. (I always cleanse my face twice)
    • Kiehl’s ultra Facial Toner.
    • Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment .
    • Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.
    PM:
At night ill be using the same treatments but adding in
    • Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Completion Correction pads.
Helps with the management of acne and clears up acne blemishes and blackheads.

Every second day I’ll be using

    AM:
    • Kiehl’s Cleansing Milk. X2
    • Kiehl’s ultra Facial Toner.
    • Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment .
    • Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream.
    PM:
    • Kiehl’s Cleaning Milk. X2
    • Kiehl’s Ultra facial Toner.
    • Alpha H Lquid Gold Prep and Prime.
With the Alpha H liquid gold you don’t use a moisturizer other wise you will not get the true results. Also you must apply sunscreen everyday as this contains Glycolic acid.

Once a month I’ll get back to you on how my skin is doing J and if anything has changed.
Also if I have changed any products.
